Choosing Your Seat in the World Theater

I think we can all agree that we have never seen the world in such chaos! From politics to pandemics and everything in between. The collective emotions range from fear to compassion streaming through our psyche like the whirlwinds of a hurricane. Fear of dying, fear of losing control, fear of survival, fear of getting ill, fear of losing our freedoms. . . Such are the multitude of fears running rampant. Simultaneously, there are moments of quiet and stillness, likened to being in the eye of the storm because we are unable to navigate the world outside of our own abodes due to communities being on lockdown.

With all of this going on around us, we DO have choice, even though we may think we have lost it. We can choose to engage in fear and anger, or we can choose to create our own reality from that quiet still point within each of us.

I share with you this very lucid dream I recently experienced:

I am sitting in the most decadent royal box seat of a theater surrounded by multiple stages. There are numerous plays going on simultaneously upon each of these stages with the most realistic backdrops I have ever seen. What a deal! One ticket and multiple shows! I get to choose which plays to watch. There are times I am drawn into a particular drama, fully engaged with the storyline. There are other times I’m observing several stages simultaneously. There are times I create my own character and walk into the play, remain in the story as long as I choose, and then exit stage right. And there are times I settle into my plush seat with a glass of champagne and simply observe it all.

In the wee hours of the morning, in my semi-awakened state of being, I realized THIS, this is how I am experiencing life now. I am observing the world as a theater with many different stages. I’m aware that each person has chosen their role in their own storyline. Some are playing their parts consciously, others are unconsciously following someone else’s script. No matter how many stages are playing out, I get to be the unbiased observer. I can choose whether or not to engage in any of the ongoing dramas, some of which have been playing out for eons of time. Whereas, others are newly created narratives in search of good reviews. Or, I can choose the joy of skipping through fields of daisies, splashing through puddles, and singing with the wind, unaware of anything other than this precious moment.

No matter what is going on in the World Theater, I get to choose my own seat. Whether it be as an observer in the royal box, one of the seats on the main floor with family and friends, or a character on any one of the numerous stages. One ticket to planet Earth, many choices! As such, I get to create my own reality within each and every moment.

Challenges and Gifts of Self Isolation

be9aa5b155b1eb9bea8da17053435c2b

I recently saw a meme streaming through my facebook newsfeed that drew my attention. It said. . . “It kinda feels like the earth just sent us all to our rooms to think about what we’ve done.”

Oh how true this feels. Some may consider this demand of “self isolating” as over-reactive craziness or a type of punishment. But I see this as a gift.

Indeed it is a gift that requires unwrapping. The first thing we see is a bright bow on top. There will be no more sitting in boring classrooms or confining offices. Many of our required events are being canceled, freeing us to enjoy some personal time. Something many have not experienced in a very long time.

Of course, there are those who do not have the choice to self isolate, those who are on the front lines. The healthcare teams of doctors, nurses, first responders, aides, and caretakers. Those who are making sure we all have enough to eat and survive, farmers, grocers, truck drivers, mail carriers and, delivery personnel. As well as many others who are quietly working behind the scenes without any acknowledgement. These are the heroes who deserve our support and compassion.

The next phase settles in when we open the box and reality hits. Many are in fear of survival because they have been laid off, without any financial income or medical benefits. How will their families survive? Will their job still exist once this period of isolation draws to a close? How will they pay for the extra expense of child care for those who still need to work? So many questions, so many fears.

Fear too is a gift. It will be experienced much like unpeeling the layers of an onion. We will need to keep going deeper within until we finally “get it”. Until we finally realize our survival is not dependent upon outside forces. Our true survival lies in the realization of our GodSelf, which is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. I’m not referring to a god outside of ourselves, someone out in the heavens who will swoop down and save us. I am referring to our own self-realized GodSelf.

There was another meme that caught my attention. It said . . “Self Isolation, I have been training for this all of my life”.

For most of my life as a triple Aries extrovert, sitting quietly in my own company felt gruesome. There was so much mind chatter it only took a few moments before I became overwhelmed with it all. It was much easier to stay busy. But eventually, all that busyness took a toll on my body, mind and spirit. It was time to make some life changes.

That’s when I awoke to a new way of life. I began spending more time in nature, meditating, and doing the things that make my heart sing. I tossed out the tv, quit reading the newspapers, and focused on my own personal life. New circles of friends began to appear, others who were also interested in living a joyful life. Old friends disappeared once I no longer participated their in empty endeavors.

When I retired from my job as a physical therapist, I began to enjoy my own company to the degree that I spent less and less time out in the world of commerce. I moved to an island living in the forest. I began writing, composing music on my harp and enjoying a healthy lifestyle. After several years of “forest gazing” as a chosen profession, I now enjoy and savor my own company.

But it was not an easy journey. During that quietude, all my inner demons came to visit. Each one demanded my time until I made peace with it. Eventually, compassion and inner peace became my way of live. After self-isolating for this period of time, at first it was difficult to be around others, especially friends and family members who still expected me to be the way I was growing up. But eventually I became so comfortable with my self, I realized all those quirks that bothered me about other people were aspects of my own self judgement. Once I fell in love with ME, judgement of self and others melted away. I now have the ability to be outgoing when I am out and about, but those times have become less frequent.

I return to the meme. . . “Self Isolation, I have been training for this all of my life”.

I have deep compassion for those who are now being forced to experience self isolation amidst the present drama. Indeed, I have trained for this, and it was training! I chose this as my preferred lifestyle. Yes, it has been challenging, but my life is now one of joy, playfulness, wellbeing, and thriving rather than one of demand and empty busyness.

As a proficient and joyful “self isolator” I say to you. Hang in there. Take advantage of this time. Now that you have been relieved of the duties of life, find the things that make your heart sing and make that your new training ground.

Once everyone is set free once again, allow this Gift of Self Isolation and sovereignty to be integrated into a new way of being in the world. In the end, humanity and the world will be a much better place because of it.

Redefining Darkness

sparkler
There’s a difference between avoiding or fighting against the so called “darkness” which is perceived as negative vs. walking away from it because the concept of duality no longer resonates with me.

We’ve been taught that darkness is evil or life threatening. Therefore fear steps in and we either avoid it, hide from it, or fight against it. Avoidance is resistance to that which we judge as bad, resistance that is always lingering below the surface. Once we’ve resisted it long enough it builds to the point that it’s in our face, be it political, religious, spiritual, emotional, mental or physical. Our human self is accustomed to going up in arms to protect ourselves by fighting against it. Or, we unconsciously harbor it until our body succumbs to disease and we die a slow painful death.

In truth all energy is neutral. It is only the human with a 3d perception of duality that deems it as dark or light, negative or positive. Light differs from energy in that it ranges from dark to light with many vibrations and variances in-between. New age teachings seem to have confused the two.

As we all know human eyes can not “see” what is in the darkness, therefore we have been taught to fear the unknown. As a child, when our parents turned on the lights during a nightmare the fear usually dissolved. Perhaps this fear is as simple as being conscious vs. unconscious.

The more conscious we become, the more we engage with our soul which does not judge. Therefore we have the opportunity to engage in the world with a more expanded perception, sensing beyond the fear and limitations of light vs. dark. The more often we engage consciously the more we inch away from the constructs of duality.

Making a choice to walk away from what the human perceives as darkness allows us a more expanded consciousness to more fully engage with our soul beyond duality’s judgment of energy. It’s here that we realize all energy is neutral, therefore “I” am the one who deems it as positive or negative. . . or to realize that all energy in service to me.

I’m not one to walk away from that which has been in the dark unconscious to avoid what’s being brought into the light to be seen. What I have walked away from is the need to judge it. There is no battle. There is no negotiation. There is no need for healing. For they are not necessary when I simply go beyond the need to engage. Therefore what had been perceived as negative is now seen as neutral, waiting to be in service to me in new and exciting ways.

My choice to turn my attention away from negativity is because I no longer live in the world of duality. That simple choice transforms what I formerly refereed to as dark or negative. Does that mean I live in a positive world? What it means is that I live in a neutral world knowing all energy is always in service to me, and the darkness and light are the variances of experiences I choose to live. Perhaps a bright sunny day or a dark mystical night. All are equally valued experiences by my soul through my human physical body here on this amazing planet that has so much to enjoy.
